The new layout is great.
Smart to make the home page the first page of the portfolio section (visitors see your work immediately/no clicking through navigation). The rollover thumbnails allow quick browsing. I like how you separated the style categories (B/W, line art). You’ve also maximized real estate – horizontal navigation is the way to go! PLUS you found room to promote news and/or books!
