I really like that you give advice not only to digital illustrators, like yourself, but also tips that apply to traditional illustrators. The best and most important information for art is timeless and can be applied to many situations. I love your site and try to come back every chance I get!

Great tips, Dani.
I’ve been here all day to read this advices, tips and, of course, apreciate your art.

BEFORE finding out your blog I wasn’t sure about illustration business. Now I’m feel like a professional illustrator.

Thanks for all.

This is a great post! I love the part about not overworking every single detail (raising my hand...that's me!!!!). I'm practicing...and practicing. I'm disciplined but find when I feel uninspired I have to get away from my computer an do something different. My favorite thing to do in the small town where I live is go to Starbucks with my sketchpad, tune everything out and just sketch random stuff. Sometimes I come up with something good. Sometimes not. Either way I get a great cup of coffee and I'm away from my studio!

Thanks for your article, Dani!

Right on-- I agree wholeheartedly. I'll say again, your blog is excellent (used your tips last night).
I would like to add: get your -inspiration- on in your "plan ahead" stage. For example, I've added complex frisket-stencils to my repertoire in some recent (analog) paintings, and the left-brain / right-brain fistfight that results leaves room for those Happy Accidents ("AHA!" moments) of inspiration, or necessary course-correction.
Just sayin'. Mining for inspiration is fun.
