Five Points Illustrators Must Know for Art School

I recently wrote this for ArtBistro.com, a community website for artists, designers, students, etc. The site is brand new and still has room to grow, but it is worth keeping an eye on.

Some features:

    Make friends with other artists.
    Catch up with industry news.
    Post a portfolio.
Learn more about painting, drawing, software, etc.
    ..and more

Several of my previous tutorials are also featured on the ArtBistro. If you have a moment, be sure to take a look around.

And while you’re at it, add me as a friend: My ArtBistro Profile

Hi, i jus found this great website of yours. It really inspires me a lot in drawing, thanks! I’m studying graphic design currently and going to finish soon and i found illustrating is quite interesting. So i wondered if you could tell me something about illustration such as what course you took. i’ll really appreciate that if you could

    Gill,

Take as many drawing and painting classes as possible, and that will give you a good start into illustration. Some computer and business classes probably wouldn’t hurt either. Most of challenge behind becoming an illustrator involves learning to create great images, and dealing with the issues of working as a freelancer.
