Now that the video has been posted, here’s a bit more about the painting…




This is the original sketch I made:

I scanned the sketch into Photoshop, changed the color to make it lighter and easier to ink over it.

After I made the cleaned-up drawing, I filled the shape of the mouse in with a solid color on a layer underneath. Everything I will paint from here forward will be done on layers above this layer, yet underneath the drawing.

I then changed the color to a very dark purple. This is the base that I will paint on top of.

I then started to block in the general colors. I used a big brush that had a watercolor paper-like texture applied to it. Here is the layer shown both with and without the line so you can see what it looks like:

Using a very small brush, I painted in highlights and details.
